Solar Pool Technologies’ first “robot for your pool” was dubbed ‘Solar-Breeze’ when the product launched in 2007. We started calling it the Solar-Breeze NX in 2015, and the Solar-Breeze NX2 in 2018, after improved product launches.
During the decade, our enhanced pool cleaning technology became known as a daily-use tool for individuals and families, earning itself quite a few endearing nicknames! Customers have reported referring to their Solar-Breezes as Alliwick, Blinky, Dory, Fred, Nemo, Orca, Pool Boy, Charlie, The Skiminator, Shirley and Solar Lambo.
“We recently purchased the NX2 and decided it needed a name like our Roomba…,” said Catherine H., in an email with the photograph aboved attached. “Thought you might wanna meet our new peasant (aka bug) destroyer…Trogdor the Skiminator, skiminating the peasants. Thanks for the entertainment!”
Apple’s Siri & Amazon’s Alexa are two of the most well-known, named robots in the world. According to a 2017 article from The Cut, there are a few reasons why humans name their technology. One reason is the need to convey ownership or attachment to ‘something special.’
“The Solar-Breeze truly becomes a convenient pal. We’re not surprised that people are naming the automatic pool cleaner!” said Paul Sim, CEO.
